Law enforcement is notified that a child has been abducted and verifies that the abduction meets Amber Alert criteria.

2) Law enforcement issues an Amber Alert and provides the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) with the information to include in the alert.

3) Law enforcement starts distributing the Amber Alert to local and state agencies.

4) receives the Amber Alert and distributes the Amber Alert to it's e-mail and wireless subscribers, network affiliated websites, and affiliated communication partners.
